Chet, Mike, and Pat

Pat and Redfish Chet, Mike, and Pat are from the Philly area. Chet has a condo here locally and stays here half the year. They fished with me last year. We met at the inlet at 4 p.m. The sun was out, the weather was beautiful and is starting to warm up. We went straight to catching our pins for for the night. Bait was not a problem. The water temp is 67 to 68 degrees.

After bait fishing we headed for the inlet to see what was happening before dark. We got there around 5 p.m. and the tide was going out. The Bluefish were thick as can be. We tried to get baits through the Blues for the Redfish but it just was not working. I put a few small plugs on the light tackle and let them have fun with the Bluefish. Chet stayed with the live bait and eventually hooked into a monster Red. It was a nice fight. Chet did a great job of keeping pressure on that fish. After a few minutes we landed the biggie Red and snapped a few pics before releasing it. On the next drift Pat hooked and landed a nice Red as well. It was about 17lbs. The tide slowed and started to switch. The bite just stopped and it never turned back on. There were only two more chances after that and both fish got away. It was alot of fun fishing with the three of you. Hope you guys enjoy the Races over the weekend. Thanks again and I hope to fish with you again next year!
