Capt. Pat and his wife Pat

The fishing is slow. The water level is the lowest that I have ever seen. The  inshore waters are cold again, but very clear. We got into some Ladyfish on the flats in the morning. The Bluefish are thick inside the Inlet. Well lets just hope that the fishing will pick up. Capt. Pat Price is a guide out of Stuart, fl. Check him out if your in the area. Chip, Philip, Miguel, and Brian

005 After a great night of fishing the four were back for there day trip. They wanted to split up into two’s on two different boats. Miguel and Brian wanted to fish with Capt. Eric Olsen. Which put Chip and Philip with me. We headed over to the flats. It was a perfect morning, these guys picked a perfect couple of days for fishing. I set up a drift and helped push them through. There was a lot bait. I did not see the schools of reds. Chip hooked up first with a nice small Snook. Philip soon after caught a Snook of the same size. The 2 Snook and a small trout and a small Jack on the flats.

At the inlet the tide was coming in. We made a few drifts and no Reds. There were some small Spanish along the beach. There are some Bluefish in the inlet as well. With the incoming tide we moved to the back. Set up for drifts with a jig for the 3 spot flounder. Chip and Philip caught 2 or 3 each. The half day was up and we met the others back at Hiram’s for lunch. During lunch the wind picked up out of the north. After everyone finished eating we went back out for a little bit. Philip caught a nice size Spanish Mackeral. The winds were increasing pretty hard. I decided we would try a couple of passes for the grouper. No luck. The day was good, perfect weather up until lunch. Miguel, Brian, Chip, and Philip thanks for the opportunity to take you fishing.

Miguel and Brian, Chip and Philip   www.brickmangroup.com
Chip with a monster Redfish Miguel, Chip and Philip live in Orlando and Brian lives in Atlanta. They booked a room at Hiram’s for a night in order to fish the Sebastian area. We met up just before dark. Miguel and Brian helped me catch bait. When it got dark, they had dinner at Hiram’s and I went and threw the net twice. I caught more bait than we needed with four people. The tide was switching to incoming around 8:30 p.m. We made our way over there around 7 p.m.

With the Inlet packed with boats we set up our drift and Philip(14 yrs. old) was the first to hook up with a big Redfish on the first drift, This kid can fish. The Reds were super thick again. It is tough to get a bait through to the Snook. Everyone caught a few nice big Redfish. Chip’s fish was the biggest of the night (31lbs.) That was a pig. Just a couple small Snook and 1 keeper caught. Philip did a great job and caught his keeper on a pinfish. Tons of action!

Joe and Debbie W.

Joe and Debbie W. 11-24-07 Joe and Debbie are from Palm beach area. They were up here celebrating there anniversary. We met at Hiram’s in the morning and headed to the flats and worked some live shrimp and some plastics. Debbie caught a few small trout. The action was a little slow. I suggested we try Snook. We headed and caught some bait. The tide was still incoming when we got there. We made a few drifts and no luck.

As the tide started to switch. We got our spot and anchored. The Snook turned on like it was August. Every time Joe would put his bait in the spot it would get slammed. Joe put his Keeper on the boat first. Debbie lost a couple before getting the hang of it. We had our limit in about 20 minutes. All together, I think Joe caught 7 or 8 and Debbie caught 4 or 5 Snook. Most of the Snook were nice slot size fish. There were a couple that were to big and to small. That was hard to believe they were feedind like that in the end of November. Thanks Joe and Debbie for the trip, that was a lot of fun.

Ron, Cathy, and Nick

Cathy and Trout 9-24-07 Ron, Cathy, and Nick are from up state New York. The weather is windy N.E. 15 mph. The wind has been blowing for a solid week. The sun is out and it was clear. The tide is high in the early morning. With the strong winds, fishing was going to be difficult. We worked our way to the east shore line and set up some drifts over a flat that has been producing some nice Reds and Trout, I have even seen some nice size Snook. We fished with some live shrimp and some jigs. Cathy was first to catch a fish, a keeper Trout. Nick caught the next Trout which was a keeper. Ron switched over to shrimp and put a keeper on the boat. Ron also caught a small Jack. Cathy caught the fourth Trout.

As it was getting later we decided to catch some pins and pigs. While we were catching some bait, we had a line out the back and Ron caught a nice size Bluefish. We made our way over to the inlet and the tide was ripping out with the winds blowing hard east. We fished a few spots but never could produce a hit. Thanks again Ron, Cathy, and Nick. It was a pleasure to meet and fish with you. Hope you enjoyed your dinner.

Wade, Jessica, Dan, and Peggy #1
Wade A. Snook 8-08-07 The weather is still calm, sunny and HOT! we met up at 7 a.m. and went to catch bait. Bait is plentiful, pigs and a few pins still in the same spot.(TC) After one hour of bait fishing we had enough, and made our way out the Inlet. The tide is outgoing starting early morning. We positioned up on the spot and with in a few minutes Brad and Dan were doubled up with Snook. We landed both fish, Snapped a few pictures and released them. The bite was not real hot, but they would hit every 5-10 min. if you had it in the right zone. The Jacks were still busting on the surface, Peggy had a few on light tackle that gave her a run for it. Peggy also hooked up with a Goliath Grouper but she didn’t stand a chance on stopping it. The fish was just to strong.

We decided to chase some bonita and look for the Tarpon. Well, no Tarpon today and the Bonita schools were scarce and hard to fish. The greenies are thick just south and close to the beach. We trolled some Geenies, but no takers. We did have a few hook ups with the Bonita. Dan also caught a Jack inside the Inlet. It was getting late and hot and it was time. Well you can’t catch them all the time, but you can try. We fished today and tomorrow maybe we catch.

Clint,Tracy,Drake, and Tony

Clint with a Sebastian Goliath 8-06-07 Clint,Tracy,Drake, and Tony Are from Georgia. The weather is still calm and clear. I picked them up at the Inlet state park at 7 a.m. We headed south to get some bait. The bait was thick today, lots of Pins and a good share of Pigs. We caught bait pretty quick and were back in the inlet by 8:30. We anchored and it took about 15 min. and Clint was hooked up with something big and it was not stopping. Clint put some muscle in it and pulled the fish to the boat, a 25lb. Goliath Grouper. Nice fish Clint. We snapped some good pictures.

The Jacks were thick they kept coming through in the channel and exploding on some bait. With a silver spoon Tony hooked up and caught a couple of Jacks on light tackle. Tracy even got a chance to catch a few. Well the Snook never turned on. We did get a few Snook hits, it was that either we couldn’t get a hook to set or just would lose the fish half way through the fight. Well we decided to run the beach in search of Tarpon or Bonita. We found the Tarpon they were thick. We couldn’t get one to hit. They are feeding on the glass minnows. We did catch two big kingfish. The first fish we lost right at the boat as I was getting ready to gaff it. It was at least 25 lbs. We had Mono on and did not expect to hook into a King with a pin.

We lost sight of the Tarpon and started fishing for Bonita we hooked up 3 or 4 and Clint landed the only one. Drake caught a Spanish mackeral. The trip was coming to an end and Clint wanted one last shot at the Tarpon. We searched and found them a few minutes later. Well we could not hook a Tarpon but did hook and land one heck of a King on mono. That was quite the fight for Clint, he did a great job to get that fish to the boat on mono. Check out the Picture and drop a comment. Clint, Tracy, Tony, and Drake thanks for the great fishing trip. Clint maybe next year for that Tarpon.

Joe and Tom(Son) trip #2
Joe and Tom were back to try some night time fishing, a first for them. They didn’t know what they were in for. Well, we caught some bait. Mostly pins and pigs, just a couple of croakers. The sun was setting and it was time to run. We arrived at the inlet just with enough time to fish the last part of the incoming. We set up anchor and let some baits out. Joe hooked up a nice fish, I thought it might be Snook because it was a croaker that got hit. After a couple of runs we saw it was a nice big Red. We landed it and snapped a picture. Tom hooked up next with a big Jack. That was a good fight for Tom.

It was dark and it was time to set up for some drifts. The tide was going out. Lets just say it was on fire, it was silly. Every drift was a hit. Joe and Tom did catch there fair share of bottom. The fish were hitting just at the same spot every drift. Joe and Tom figured it out and started to catch some nice fish. Tom caught his first snook all by himself. Nice job Tom! After tons of action, the final numbers were in Joe 2 Snook and 1 Red. Tom 2 Snook, 1 Red and 1 Jack. We took Photos but don’t know if they will turn out. Joe thanks for everything. I got a new rod the next day. Email the pictures if they turn out?

Richard L. and Jamie

We met at the Inlet L-dock at 6 p.m. Richard has been fishing with me a couple of times and Jamie was a rookie. The tide was incoming. We fished for a bit and there was nothing biting. We left to go catch some bait for the night time action. The tide was switching at dark and we were back with bait and ready. The bite was happening, Richard and Jamie both lost a few nice fish. Jamie finally did get his Snook. We caught a few Jacks as well and called it a night.
