Capt. Eric Redeye Classic
The Redeye it is a inshore tournament put on by SISA. The tournament runs from 8 p.m. Fri. night through Sat. 3 p.m. and it is Snook, Trout, Redfish, and Flounder. Dan A. and I decided to try our luck. We figured we might have a good chance at making the board. Well we started out at the inlet for the night time snook. We only manage to catch 2 Snook, both of them were keepers but on the small side. We were catching a few Reds as well. I did catch one that just made it. It was close. Dan caught one as well which was just a little big. The bite was slow for most of the late night hours.
We crashed on the boat for 2 hrs. and at light we were there on the flats were the schools of reds have been. No Reds today go figure. We left and went to get our trout and Dan lost a decent one. I caught small one about 17 inches. We couldn’t get the hits. I had a slam to weigh in and Dan had a Snook. Dans Snook was 7.5 lbs. and I had a Red at 7.15 lbs. Snook at 7.25 lbs. Trout at 1.35 lbs. The Red was good enough for 2nd place.
