Sans, Tom, and Joel

Snook We met up at the Sebastian Inlet boat ramp in the morning. The tide was incoming early and switched around 10:30. With the early storms approaching we decided to stick close to the inlet. The water temp. is still cold, and the bait situation is tough. The greenies were hard to find but we managed to get a dozen and a half. Croakers were there and we caught about two dozen.
When the tide switched to outgoing, we moved to the inlet and set anchor. The Snook were going off! It is that time of year, if you put a croaker down he is going to hit pretty quick. Well it took a few misses until they got the hang of it. Sans landed the first Snook. Tom caught the second Snook. It took Joel the longest to catch one but once he got one he was on fire after that. He ended up catching the most Snook with four fat one’s. We were close to running out of bait, with the storms building from the west and getting close it was time to call it a day. It was a great trip, everyone caught good size Snook. Thanks again Sans for letting me take you and your friends fishing.

Chipper and Dan

7-02-08 Capt Eric M. 7-02-08 Dan A. permit I collected about two dozen crabs the night before. We picked up a two dozen live Shrimp from Whitey’s on the way down. We made it the ramp at 8 a.m. and headed straight to our fishing spot. What a day ! When we got there Chipper hooked right up and landed a monster Snook. I couldn’t believe it, I have seen the schools of Snook but I have never seen them eat like that. Well not at that spot.

I was next to get a bait own and just like that I had a monster Snook on. I caught 3 monsters all together. It took Dan a bit to hook a Snook. His first fish was a Jack. His second was a monster Snook though. Dan also got the only Permit of the day. We ended with a pretty good day. Tons of action!

Sans, Jerry, and Mark

7-1-08 Sans Snook Night trip, The weather has been better. The rain was thick it never stopped. These three guys are hardcore! Most guys would have canceled. We got rained on the whole night. The tide was incoming most of the evening. We caught some Pins and started fishing in the Inlet. Nobody could get a hit outside around the bite. So we came in and fished the back. Jerry caught a few small Snook on Grubs. That was pretty cool, the Snook were around 25″. Sans hooked up with a fatty on a pin. That was a good size fish. Mark caught a fat Snook in the back as well.

As the tide was slowing the bite slowed. We waited for the tide to switch and the bite to pick up. The tide was outgoing around 10 p.m. The Snook turned on, Sans and Mark each caught another Big Snook. We had a few misses as well. Well overall the trip was great. The fishing action was hot. The rain was even tolerable. Thanks again Sans. Jerry and Mark it was a pleasure to fish with you.

Eric O.

6-25-08 005 This was a good trip. I got a tip that the Permit were near the Inlet so I invited a good friend Eric to check it out. We caught a few baits, croakers. The tide was switching to the outgoing around 4:30 p.m. Once the tide switched we fished the Croakers and I hooked up and landed a fat over sized Snook. A few minutes later Eric caught a Snook about 32 inches.

After a bit we started to spot the crabs coming out on the tide. We netted a few and started fishing them. Eric was on fire, catching 3 Permit 20 to 30 lbs. on light tackle. Well, I just have this curse on me with Permit this year. On this day I had two opportunity’s, the first one the fish Spit the bait right as I was going to set the hook. On my Second chance I broke him off. It was a big fish. My bad……It was a lot of fun any ways. I’ll get me one this year.

Len and Sam

Sam and Len Big Snook Father’s Day, I picked Len and his son Sam up at the Sebastian Inlet State park. The weather was perfect no wind and nothing but sun. The tide was incoming in the morning. The greenies were right outside and close to the mouth. No kingfish in them though. It was slow, we fished around the bait pods for awhile. When the tide switched and we decided to try the Inlet. Len hooked up a Jack and handed it off to Sam. He had a blast reeling it in. It wasn’t long after that and Sam got to reel in a monster Snook. That was awesome, the Snook did not want to stop running. It was a very cool moment seeing how excited Sam was to catch that trophy Snook. We got some great pics. Thanks Len, it was great to spend the day with you and your son.

Sans and Greg

Greg Snook Catch and Release Snook, season is closed. I picked Sans and Greg up at 6 p.m. We looked for the croakers but not much luck. I came inside and had no problem catching pins. The tide switched to outgoing around 6 p.m. As it got dark we moved into the inlet. It was a great night Greg instantly hooked up with a nice Red. Sans caught a nice Red as well. The first two Snook were in the slot size, go figure. Greg also caught a monster Snook. Nice catch, Greg. Sans had a good size Snook too. We were careful with the Snook and released them with care. This was a great night with tons of action. A night to remember. Thanks Sans and Greg. Sans I will see you in July. Let me know on your dates?

Thom

Closing night of Snook season. I picked Thom around 7 p.m. from Capt. Hiram’s. We went to the Inlet to cast net some Mojo’s.  Bait was thick on the north side. The tide switched to outgoing around 9:30 p.m. The fishing was slow. Thom caught one short Snook 26″. I couldn’t get a bite. There were about 7 or 8 boats in the Inlet and no one was catching fish. Snook season is closed until Sept. 1, 08.

Thom

Thom keeper Snook With just two nights left of Snook season, Thom is on a mission to break the inlet curse. I picked Thom up at Capt. Hiram’s at 6 p.m. He had dinner ready to go for us. Thanks Thom for the sandwich. We made our way over to Sebastian Inlet. The tide was still incoming. I threw the cast net a few times and loaded up on the Mojo’s.  We tried for the pinfish for a hour and only caught two.

With it getting dark, we started to fish. Thom caught 3 or 4 jacks and I caught 1. The tide switched to outgoing  just after dark. About 30 mins into the new tide Thom hooked up with a nice 30 inch Snook. It gave him a great fight.  The curse was broken. Thom was on fire, he ended with two keepers and two shorts with a few misses. It was still a good percentage. One night left !
