Tim and Robert fished with me 2 yrs. ago. We met up at Capt. Hiram’s at 7 a.m. then we went and caught some croakers for the day. The tide switched to outgoing around 8 a.m. We Snook fished for a bit but no luck. The winds were calm and the sun is hot. We netted some nice crabs on the outgoing weeds. The Reds were coming to the surface and feeding. There was a lot of boat traffic and they were right on the edge of the channel. It was a little difficult but everyone had a good hit. Tim hooked up and landed his which bottomed out my 30lb. Boga. I guessing around 40lbs. It was a monster.

After the Reds stop coming up we ran the beaches and played with the Bonita. That was fun. Everybody caught a Bonita. Tim’s was a nice one about 12lbs. We fished the wreck for a bit and hooked up a few Snook but could not land one. We also had some big break offs. Goliath? Tim caught a Black Drum on a crab. Robert caught a nice size Jack. Bill caught a few sharks. That was about it for the day. It was fun and filled with action. Thanks guys, see you this week. Hopefully the night bite will be on as well.
Sorry folks with the weather and working on the boat lately, it’s been tough to fish. The water is still dirty from the storm. Mostly freshwater from the river’s. The tides have been longer on the outgoing. Tides are unusually high. The weather today was perfect. Sunny and calm. No wind until around 2 p.m. when it picked up to 10 mph. S.E.
We looked for the Crabs this morning but no luck. Mullet are everywhere. We did fish for the Croakers and they were there, we caught about 2 dozen in 30 minutes. We made our way over to the Inlet. We landed a few nice keeper size Snook. After some Snook action we made our way to another spot. When we got arrived there wasn’t much going on. We fished for a bit and then it just turned on. We caught 3 Reds in the 30″ range, a few Red Snapper just short, 4 Black drum in the 20″ range, 2 Cobia that were around 20lbs. and 1 monster Jack. We also lost some really nice fish. The Cobia was fun Chipper got his first on a croaker. It had a second Cobia trailing, I threw out on it and hooked it up. The Cobia threw the hook and I couldn’t get him to hit again. About an hour later I hooked the same Cobia with a live shrimp and on lighter tackle. That fish was tons of fun. I needed that!….

The fishing is pretty good. We made our way out of the inlet and found the bait pods of greenies. The tide was outgoing in the A.M. After getting plenty of bait we headed to our spot we wanted to fish that day. We started to fish and Jennifer did it again we weren’t there for 5 minutes and she was hooked up with a nice fish. After some good long runs and some hard pulling, we saw it was a permit. It was near 17lbs.

John caught about 4 Black Drums, all were around 20 inches. He also caught about a 4-5 lb. Flounder. John and I each had a shot at a Permit, but no luck. I have this curse on me this year with Permit. This was a fun day though, we had a good day and we came home with dinner. Hopefully this curse is broken now that I gave this older gentlemen a tow back to the dock. I didn’t even accept his money. I just want to break this curse. I want to catch a Permit soon.
