Sans and Greg

Greg Snook Catch and Release Snook, season is closed. I picked Sans and Greg up at 6 p.m. We looked for the croakers but not much luck. I came inside and had no problem catching pins. The tide switched to outgoing around 6 p.m. As it got dark we moved into the inlet. It was a great night Greg instantly hooked up with a nice Red. Sans caught a nice Red as well. The first two Snook were in the slot size, go figure. Greg also caught a monster Snook. Nice catch, Greg. Sans had a good size Snook too. We were careful with the Snook and released them with care. This was a great night with tons of action. A night to remember. Thanks Sans and Greg. Sans I will see you in July. Let me know on your dates?

John A. and I

Capt. Eric M. light tackle Dolphin Another perfect day. The winds are is still calm. We decided to head offshore and try for some Dolphin. We headed straight out to 130 ft. and started trolling some ballyhoo’s. We had a few small misses and that was that. We trolled out to 300ft. and back in to 150ft. It was 11:15 a.m. and we decided to try our luck out with some live baits ont the bottom.

We were fishing the 90 ft. ledge and I caught one 23 ” Grouper. While we were bottom fishing two small schools of Dolphin swam up to the boat. On the second school there was one decent size Dolphin. I was able to pitch a live bait in the right spot and hooked up with a nice cow. I love sight casting to Dolphin. John and I kept busy for a bit. We kept 7 fish total and released a few that were pretty small. What a great day!

John C. and I

Capt. Eric M. light tackle Kingfish The weather is perfect. Sunny and calm. With Snook season closed, its time to start fishing the day’s. I invited my good friend John C. to go after the Permit. The ocean was as calm as it can get. Once we got to the spot we started to fish. I We never spotted the Permit. We were fishing with shrimp tipped jigs on 30lb. test leader. I hooked up first with a nice big fish, it gave me one heck of a run. It ended up being a big Kingfish. I can’t believe I landed it on that gear. I had it hooked just perfect. John caught a few smaller kings and big boy Jack. I caught a couple of Bonita as well. I got to feed one to a Barracuda, that was quite the sight. The Permit finally started to show themselves later in the afternoon. We never could get hooked up. They just wouldn’t hit. We both had a few casts in the middle of them. It was still a great day, full of action.

Thom

Closing night of Snook season. I picked Thom around 7 p.m. from Capt. Hiram’s. We went to the Inlet to cast net some Mojo’s.  Bait was thick on the north side. The tide switched to outgoing around 9:30 p.m. The fishing was slow. Thom caught one short Snook 26″. I couldn’t get a bite. There were about 7 or 8 boats in the Inlet and no one was catching fish. Snook season is closed until Sept. 1, 08.
