Harvey W. and Sonny

Harvey Redfish The tide is switching at dark to incoming. Where is the bait? Water temp is still just a bit chilly. It was difficult to get bait, we managed to catch a few dozen. When we got to the inlet the tide was slack. We fished the mouth as it got dark. Redfish and more Redfish, Harvey and Sonny took turns hooking up and fighting nice size Reds. Harvey caught one keeper Snook off the fender. The trip was good, a lot of action.

Marty, Josh, and Harvey

Marty, Josh, and Harvey were wanting to search for the Cobia. The weather was perfect conditions. We had all the right baits. The pogies are thick just along the beach south of the port. Well lets just say we missed one small triple tail and saw nothing else the entire day. I heard of three cobia caught all day and that was near the 2nd set of bouys. I fished near them and searched around them as well and no luck. Well they say that is fishing! I like catching better.

Capt. Pat and his wife Pat

The fishing is slow. The water level is the lowest that I have ever seen. The  inshore waters are cold again, but very clear. We got into some Ladyfish on the flats in the morning. The Bluefish are thick inside the Inlet. Well lets just hope that the fishing will pick up. Capt. Pat Price is a guide out of Stuart, fl. Check him out if your in the area. Brian and I

40lb. Cobia 3-01-08 Cobia fishing out of Port Canaveral. We left the dock around 9a.m. The reports were that the Rays were in 55ft. of water straight out. Well lets just say you couldn’t miss the boats. We found a two Rays right off and neither had fish on them. On the third ray that we spotted it looked like that there was nothing on it. Out of the blue a nice Cobia swam right up to the boat. I was holding my rod and just flipped the switch and let my Thunder bait buck tail drop, jigged it once and let it drop again. The Cobia inhaled and I just let it run before set the hook. Fish ON! We landed it and it was approx. 40lbs. There was a lot of rays and a lot of boats. To much pressure, we saw one other fish and we couldn’t get it to hit. At least we caught one nice fish.
