Andy and John

Andy and John Pair of Reds Andy and his father John. Andy is a Engineer at Harris and his father lives in Minnesota. The weather was perfect and the tide was going out most of the night. I picked them up at the Sebastian Inlet at 5 p.m and we headed straight to the bait spot.

We caught plenty of croakers and a few pigs. We also went and caught a few pins. The tide was going out, but it was still calm enough to fish the mouth. Andy and John each had a blast catching there share of Reds. Including one nice double up. Andy caught one Snook that was to big 33″, that is a shame. John also caught one Snook that was just in the slot at 28″. The fishing seems to be getting better with the warmer weather. We worked hard for those two Snook. We decided to call it night. Thanks again Andy and John it was a pleasure to fish with the both of you.

Rich and Dan

I picked them up in the A.M. With some left Baits we left for the Sebastian Inlet. The tide was outgoing. The weather was chilly and is warming up to the 80’s through out the day. Dan lost one nice hit in the Inlet. It was a nice Red. That would end up being the only chance for a big fish.

Rich was getting a little weezy with the boat wakes coming through. We decided to fish the flats. They caught some small trout, a few small Jacks and some small Snapper on live shrimp. The fishing was tough. It seems like that there is no fish in the river right now. Well guys that is fishing some days are better than others.

A friend of mine who was fishing next to us was leaving and gave me his croakers. Lets just say we had a blast. Mike caught another keeper and Mike Jr. caught 2 nice big keepers. Daner with his nice keeper The weather was perfect, calm and clear. The tide was outgoing in the inlet at dark and switched around 10 p.m. George and his friends were own on a guys trip for Georges B-Day. I picked them up at Hiram’s and we went to catch our bait(pins). A little slow but we managed to catch plenty.

When we got to the inlet we started our drifts and George caught the first Big Red 28lbs. After that everyone caught there big Red. The biggest was Doug’s 30lbs. We moved as the tide lightened and started for Snook. Daner hooked up and landed a fat 32″ Snook. There were a couple missed opportunity’s but the Snook never really hit. Well this was a great trip. A great group to have out fishing. Thanks George, Pete, Doug, and Daner for the Trip. Well see you next time

Mike and Matt,

Mike and Matt are brothers. These are some cool guys. They are some good old boys. I picked them up at Capt. Hiram’s and we went to catch our bait for the night. Pins were tough for the first hour, after that we had no problems. I threw the net a few times in the inlet for the mojo’s but nothing. The sun set a few minutes after 8 p.m. The tide was still slowly moving out.

Mike instantly hooked up and landed a big Red. Mike and Matt both caught a few nice Reds. They had one double up with success. The Snook are a little shy right now. They both caught a few short Snook and one over sized Snook, 34″ and a 35″. They were pigs. Well tons of action and some nice fish. Nothing to take home. Well its nearly impossible to catch a keeper.

Thanks Mike and Matt, it was great to meet you. I’ll see you Friday night.

Rich, Vallery, and GW

Vallery w/ Trout The winds have finally stopped blowing. It was a little chilly in the morning but warmed quickly. The sun was out. We met up at the S.I. Rich and company were from the Maryland area. We started of on a nearby flat. Casting some paddle tail grubs with a 3/8 oz. jig. They caught a few decent Trout. Vallery was catching her share of Trout with live Shrimp as well.

The bite shut down and we moved to catch some pins. Bait was no problem. In the Inlet, the tide was incoming until 2:00 p.m. We fished the inlet, GW hooked up a nice fish possibly a big Red. He had it on for a bit but the hook never set. Well we fished the heck out of it, no luck. The Bluefish were outside the inlet near the middle. It was a beautiful day. Thanks Rich, Vallery, and GW for the trip hope to see you guys again.

Fishing Report…

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Hey this is Capt. Eric

I am going to start keeping up with more of a Report of current fishing conditions….plus my blog of trips. The winds are blowing pretty strong NNE 15-20. No fishing offshore the seas are big, 5ft. The winds should be laying down and the weather temp. should be rising to the mid 80’s. later in the week. Hopefully this is the last cold front. We could use some warmer water.

The Report from the inlet is that there are a few Snook being caught on the North Jetty with big hand picks and bucktails. The oversize Redfish are thick on the incoming tide. There have been some big Jacks as well in the 20lb. range. The report from the beach fishing, Pompano were biting really good last week. This week its just to blown out. Well keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best with the winds. It is March !

Jim and Austin

Jim and Austin with double Reds Jim and Austin from Tennessee, Austin is 12 years old. The weather was questionable. There was a front moving down the state and it was suppose to rain in the evening. We started at 5 p.m. and went straight to catching bait. We bait fished for an hour and had about 2 1/2 dozen pins. The sky was starting to darken so I suggested we go with what we got. The tide was moving out when we got there.

We fished the mouth and got in to the Reds. Jim would catch one Red and then Austin would catch one. After a few Reds each. I wanted to see if they could double up and land both fish. They did a great job at keeping the fish away from each other and landed both. It made for a great picture. We tried for the Snook but no luck, just some big Jacks. The storm was getting close so it was time to go. Well this trip was another great trip. Jim it was a pleasure for me to take you and your son fishing. Enjoy the Pictures.

Dan, Marty, and I

012 Marty from Black Dog Bait and Tackle and Dan from Thunder Baits.  Bait was still rough. At dark the tide was going out. We all caught our share of Reds. Caught a few jacks on plugs. as the tide slowed down we went for the snook. It seems like there are a few fish there but it’s a little tough to catch one. Dan did mange to catch two fish one too big and one too short. The over sized Snook was a great catch at slack tide right up close on top of the fender. Dan your the man! That is the way it goes sometimes.

Chris, Jessica, Lisa, and Tori

Jessica With her fat keeper Snook Chris and Jessica live in Indiana. Lisa and Tori are local. The weather was perfect. The tide switched to incoming an hour after dark. The bait is still slow. With four people fishing for bait it helped. Chris was casting a Spook Jr. and managed to catch a small trout. We made our way to the inlet right at dark.

Chris and Jessica were both catching Redfish one after another. After all the action with the Reds we moved in and went for Snook. The tide was near slack, Jessica hooked up with a nice Snook close to the fender. It gave her a great fight, pulling her into the fender she did a great job at keeping the pressure on. She landed it and it just made it in the slot. Chris moments later caught a smaller Snook. That was a Slam for him. Jacks are in there as well. Thanks Chris, Jessica, Lisa and Tori for a fun trip.
