Mike L. , Mitch and Rob

027 013 Mike and his son Mitch are here visiting Rob and decided to fish for a day. Mike and Mitch are from West Virginia. The weather is still calm and clear and HOT! The Bait was plentiful still tons of pigs and few pins. I hear the croakers are on the beach. The tide was to turn outgoing around 10 a.m. We ran the beaches and saw a few Tarpon and the bait pods of glass minnows. The Bonita are blasting baits but it difficult to get a hook up. With the tide getting right it was time to go Snook fishing. After getting anchored up, The Snook began to feed heavily. All together Mike, Mitch, and Rob caught 16 Snook, 10 - 20 lbs. Even I got to catch one and lose one. The Snook were also feeding on pins. After we wore out the Snook we went and ran down the Bonita hooking up and landing two. Rob and Mike each got one. Thanks guys for a lot of fun that was an incredible bite. I took tons of Photos hope you like.

Wade, Jessica, Dan, and Peggy #2

Dan with his Snook Back in the morning for trip #2, the weather was still calm and sunny, a perfect day for fishing. We spent an hour catching bait in the morning. Jessica joined in to catch bait and caught her first fish. The pigs were plentiful and there were a few pins. We headed out to start our day of fishing. We anchored up when we got to the Inlet. The tide was just beginning to go out. The Snook began to feed after about 30 minutes. Wade, Dan, and Peggy all took turns hooking up the big Snook. Peggy lost one fish that she couldn’t stop, I think it was a Goliath Grouper. We landed our fare share of fish.

After catching plenty of Snook we wanted to check out the Bonita action. The Bonita were on the surface.Schools were staying up just long enough for a cast or two. The fish are good size. We chased the Bonita for a good hour and just never could get one to the boat. Out of two hook ups Wade broke one and the other pulled a hook. Maybe next time. Thanks Wade, Jessica, Dan, and Peggy for the two days of fishing. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Wade, Jessica, Dan, and Peggy #1
Wade A. Snook 8-08-07 The weather is still calm, sunny and HOT! we met up at 7 a.m. and went to catch bait. Bait is plentiful, pigs and a few pins still in the same spot.(TC) After one hour of bait fishing we had enough, and made our way out the Inlet. The tide is outgoing starting early morning. We positioned up on the spot and with in a few minutes Brad and Dan were doubled up with Snook. We landed both fish, Snapped a few pictures and released them. The bite was not real hot, but they would hit every 5-10 min. if you had it in the right zone. The Jacks were still busting on the surface, Peggy had a few on light tackle that gave her a run for it. Peggy also hooked up with a Goliath Grouper but she didn’t stand a chance on stopping it. The fish was just to strong.

We decided to chase some bonita and look for the Tarpon. Well, no Tarpon today and the Bonita schools were scarce and hard to fish. The greenies are thick just south and close to the beach. We trolled some Geenies, but no takers. We did have a few hook ups with the Bonita. Dan also caught a Jack inside the Inlet. It was getting late and hot and it was time. Well you can’t catch them all the time, but you can try. We fished today and tomorrow maybe we catch.

Clint,Tracy,Drake, and Tony

Clint with a Sebastian Goliath 8-06-07 Clint,Tracy,Drake, and Tony Are from Georgia. The weather is still calm and clear. I picked them up at the Inlet state park at 7 a.m. We headed south to get some bait. The bait was thick today, lots of Pins and a good share of Pigs. We caught bait pretty quick and were back in the inlet by 8:30. We anchored and it took about 15 min. and Clint was hooked up with something big and it was not stopping. Clint put some muscle in it and pulled the fish to the boat, a 25lb. Goliath Grouper. Nice fish Clint. We snapped some good pictures.

The Jacks were thick they kept coming through in the channel and exploding on some bait. With a silver spoon Tony hooked up and caught a couple of Jacks on light tackle. Tracy even got a chance to catch a few. Well the Snook never turned on. We did get a few Snook hits, it was that either we couldn’t get a hook to set or just would lose the fish half way through the fight. Well we decided to run the beach in search of Tarpon or Bonita. We found the Tarpon they were thick. We couldn’t get one to hit. They are feeding on the glass minnows. We did catch two big kingfish. The first fish we lost right at the boat as I was getting ready to gaff it. It was at least 25 lbs. We had Mono on and did not expect to hook into a King with a pin.

We lost sight of the Tarpon and started fishing for Bonita we hooked up 3 or 4 and Clint landed the only one. Drake caught a Spanish mackeral. The trip was coming to an end and Clint wanted one last shot at the Tarpon. We searched and found them a few minutes later. Well we could not hook a Tarpon but did hook and land one heck of a King on mono. That was quite the fight for Clint, he did a great job to get that fish to the boat on mono. Check out the Picture and drop a comment. Clint, Tracy, Tony, and Drake thanks for the great fishing trip. Clint maybe next year for that Tarpon.

Alex W. and Henry R.

Alex 2nd Snook 8-05-07 Alex and Henry are good friends from Colorado and are here wanting to do some fishing. Well, I picked them up from the Crown Plaza and we headed for Hiram’s. Well I had bait ready to go so we headed straight to the Inlet for the Snook bite. Once we got the anchor position set right, it didn’t take long and Alex was hooked up. He did everything right because he got the hook to set the first time. Alex had his first Snook on and he was amazed by the power and quickness. We landed it and snapped a few pics. Henry missed one and then on his second bite he got the hook to set. This was a nice Snook as well. The fish tried to get around the anchor line but Henry did a nice job of staying with it and taking it under the line. Check out the pic. Alex hooked up with a second Snook and enjoyed a good fight. This fish was a 12lbs.

The tide was slowing and so was the bite. I was informed of some tarpon rolling and Bonita exploding, so we decided to check it out. We caught some Spanish Mackeral and hooked a big Bonita but had some problems with another boat being in the way. The Tarpon were thick but we could not produce a hit. The greenies are there as well just a little farther away. Well thanks Alex and Henry for a fun trip and I am sure the moon will shine.

Brennan S. and Don S.

Don S. Snook 8-3-07 Brennan is a friend of mine and Don is his dad. Well Brennan does my art and website design. I have been trying to get Brennan to come fishing for a long time and he is always busy with work. We met at Capt. Hiram’s at 7 a.m. and set off to catch some bait. The weather was perfect calm no rain and just enough clouds to keep you cool. We had no problems getting bait, only one croaker though. When we passed through the inlet the tide was incoming. We headed a little south and found plenty of Little Bonita’s.

Don and Brennan had plenty of casts at the fish but just could never seem to get lucky. The fish are feeding on glass minnows so I tried some smaller spoons and grubs but no luck. They are scattered and moving quick which makes it difficult as well. We decided to run out a bit and look around. We never found the greenies, but did come across a little rip with some weeds. We spotted at least 4 Rays with no Cobia on them, I couldn’t believe it. We decided to go and fish the inlet and see if we could catch a Snook or a Red. The fishing was slow, the tide was incoming and the water was clear. Don Managed to hook in to a nice Snook, if it was season it would of been a keeper. Nice fish Don.

The water was so clear that Brennan and I were taking turns with the mask. We were diving in and holding on a rope behind the boat. It was quite the site to see all the big Goliath Groupers and huge never ending school of snook. Just was not the right tide for them to eat. It was still a great day on the water. Thanks Brennan and Don for fishing with me and any time that you would like to go let me know. Next time we can plan the tides better.
