John S.

John S. with a Red 8-30-07 John is from Ohio. The weather is nice and hot. The winds are 10-15 mph. and the ocean is a little choppy. The tide is incoming until 1 a.m. The bait is a little difficult to catch in the river, I did manage to catch a few dozen pins mixed with a few pigs. We met up at Hiram’s around 7 p.m. and went straight to fishing. John missed one hit on the beach just before dark.

After that it was slow, John didn’t get another chance at a fish until 10 p.m. When the moon finally came up and the winds laid down, the bite picked up. John ended with 3 nice Reds and missed a couple. John had a Snook on once for sure. What started off as a slow night ended with tons of action for the last 2 hours. John it was a pleasure to fish with you. I look forward to you catching your Snook next time. Thanks again.

Dan A.

Dan with a nice Snook The weather is nice and calm, still a small swell coming in. The tide is incoming most of the morning. The switch was today at 11 a.m. We met up at 7 a.m. and went straight to the croakers. They are along the beaches. We fished the inlet for the last part of the incoming. I caught 2 nice snook and Dan hooked a few and landed one. As the tide began slow the bite picked up and continued into the outgoing tide for about an hour. We caught at least 12 Snook and must of missed twice that, Dan did catch the biggest Snook. No Redfish today. It was another great day.

Bob K. and Bev K.

Bob & Bev  Bob and Bev are from Ft. Myers, Fl. They are in town on a little vacation. We met at the dock at 7 a.m. Bait fishing was slow, it was tough today. The moon is full, maybe that is it? After some struggles and tons of catfish I decided it was time for the beach. I checked almost every spot back to the inlet and not much luck, just a few.

When we got to the spot outside, we caught our share of croakers mixed with a few pins. Finally enough bait to make it happen. We pulled up and grabbed a spot and tossed out a few baits quickly. A few other guides were there and were already hooked up. It didn’t take but a second and Bob was feeling a Snook running. Fish on, it was a nice Snook. Bev joined right in catching her share of Snook. Bob and Bev doubled up with a Bob catching a big Redfish and Bev a nice Snook. I took some great photos. The bite was strong the fish were feeding heavily. Just a few more days until season. All together Bob and Bev caught at least a dozen Snook and one big Red. Thanks Bob and Bev, it was a pleasure fishing with you both. Check out the video !

Jerry and Chris L.

Chris & Jerry L. 8-25-07 Jerry and Chris are from Brandon, Fl. We met at 7 a.m. and headed out to catch bait. Bait is a little tough, Starting to thin out. The tide is switching around 8 a.m. to outgoing. The ocean is calm with a 3 foot ground swell, we were still able to fish. The water is dirtier this week after the winds we have had. The bite was a little slower than it has been as well. Jerry missed the his first couple of hits. Chris put the first Snook on the boat. Chris was on a roll, she was getting the hits and she was doing a great job of setting the hook. Jerry ended with one Snook and a few missed opportunity’s. Chris ended with 5 Snook, biggest was 36 1/2 inches. Thanks Jerry and Chris, hope you enjoyed your day.

Dustin D.

Dustin D. Bonita 8-15-07Thats a PIG! Snook Dustin D. 8-15-07 Dustin is from Georgia. We met up at the inlet at 8 a.m. The weather is the same, calm, sunny, and HOT! the tide is Incoming in the morning. We decided to get our pigs and pins first. The bait pretty thick. Dustin caught one small snook out of the mangroves and missed two hits. After bait we chased the Bonita, they are moving north.

Tarpon were rolling, not showing themselves a whole lot. Spanish still everywhere, we caught a few as well. Dustin ended up hooking and landing 6 Bonita on light tackle. We chased those fish until the tide changed. We set up on the Snook and when that tide changed it was on. Dustin ended up catching one of the biggest Snook that I have seen in awhile. The first two fish were the biggest.

Dustin caught at least 20 Snook of all sizes. I joined in after a bit, catching at least 10 nice fish. That was a good day. All the fish were released nice and carefully. Dustin is one heck of a fisherman. Check out his pictures and Video.

Bill and Jenny R.

Jenny with another big Snook 8-14-07 Bill and Jenny are from Wisconsin. We met up at 9 a.m. and went caught bait (pigs and pins). The weather is still calm, the wind is west. The tide is incoming in the inlet until 1 p.m. After bait we ran the beaches and found the Bonita. Bill hooked up on his very first cast, he made it look easy. The fish was good size and it was a good fight on 10lb. test. We chased a few more schools and hooked up two more fish and landed one.
The tide was fixing to turn, so we got our spot. The Snook turned on right on schedule. Bill and Jenny doubled up on Snook for the first bite. Bill landed his fish first and Jenny had hers right behind. The Snook were feeding heavy, Bill ended with at least 10 Snook and 2 of them were on light tackle. Jenny ended with 5 Snook. I even got to catch 1 and lost one. Thanks Bill and Jenny it was a lot of fun.

Don H. and Turner

Dad and his girl(Don and Turner) 011 Don is from Texas. The weather is nice and hot. The tide today is incoming all morning. We went and caught bait. Some really nice fat pigfish and a few nice pins. Turner was doing a good job of catching the pigs. After catching bait we ran out to the beach, The glass minnows are still there and the Bonita, Spanish, and Tarpon are still feeding. We chased the schools of Bonita, it was tough to get hooked up. We missed a few hit and I had one on for a few seconds. Finally we were able to hook one up and land it for a picture.

It was time to go for the Snook. The water was so clear that you could see the schools of Snook. We anchored and it was a feeding fest after that. Don hooked up about 10 nice Snook and landed at least 6, its hard to keep up with the count. Don caught some nice fat fish. The bite was on, the fish were feeding on pigs and after that we were catching them on pins. I even managed to catch two nice fish. Man, that is really a lot of fun. Don it was nice to fishing with you and Turner. Thanks again.

Curtis, Tanner, and Blake

Blake Snook 8-11-07 Curtis, his son Tanner, and Blake are from the Tampa area. The weather is still calm, clear, sunny, and hot. We caught bait(pigs and pigs). The tide was incoming until 11 a.m. We ran the beaches casting at a few schools of Bonita. We had no luck, just couldn’t seem to get a cast on the right spot. The tip of the jetty was packed with boats. It wasn’t easy but I managed to sneak us a spot to anchor up on. Around 12 p.m. the Snook began feeding. The fish were holding further out from the jetty. Everyone had a fair share of hits and opportunity. Out of all the hits, Blake landed two nice Snook, Tanner
landed one nice Snook, and Curtis after a handful of leaders cut off just above the hook put a nice Snook next to the boat. Well it was a lot of fun and I look forward to fishing with you again.

Clint, Drake, Tracy, and Tony #2010 Clint could not get enough fishing in on his trip. It was gonna be hard to compete with his trip of two Kingfish over 30lbs. and a 25 lb. Goliath Grouper. We met at Hiram’s and left to catch bait at 7 a.m. The weather has not changed still calm, clear and HOT! The bait was a little tougher. We did catch our share though, just a few were small. Drake and Tony were loving the bait action. Tracy did a great job of getting in on the action as well.I wanted to check for croakers so we headed for the ocean. We tried a few spots and just caught sea bass. We headed a few miles out to fish for the Bonita schools but they were just the small fish. We Ran around and found some pods just couldn’t hook up. It was time to catch Snook and we made our way back to the inlet. The Snook began to feed, the action was non-stop. Tracy caught two of the biggest fish. Drake was impressive, he was putting some muscles in to the fight. Near the end he was doing it all by his self. Drake caught several Snook. Tony was hooking up and he caught a few. Clint caught several of fish as well, all together the count was 18 or 19.
The bite was over, so we ran the beach to search for the Bonita’s. I hooked up the first fish and handed it off to Drake it was a great fight. Drake did a great job of muscling that fish. Clint hooked up next and handed it to Tony. Tony did a great job fighting that Bonita. Tony was not feeling to well, but he gave it all he had. Clint and Tracy thanks for the two days of fishing. It was a pleasure to fish and get to know you and your family.
