Ken and his boys

The Peterson boys 6-27-07 In town from Chicago and ready to fish. The wind is blowing SE 15 mph. We headed to some flats and set up some drifts with live shrimp. Well we caught one small trout and a couple of lady fish. Action being rather slow, we decided to head towards the inlet. The tide was outgoing and the inlet was rough. We made a few drifts and lost 2 fish. I think they were Reds. With the time running out(last second) and the very last bait, I mean last bait, One of the boys hooked up with a big Red. We landed it and snapped a couple of quick pics. Its nice when one fish can save day! Thanks Ken for the Trip.

Neil another 2nd Snook Jesse, Richard, and Neil

Jesse, Richard, and Neil met me at the Inlet L-dock. I was cast netting Bait when they arrived. I managed to get a few. The tide was coming in. We set up on the east side and made a few drifts, nothing. The fishing was not happening. Well it was early so I decided we go catch bait and get prepared for the outgoing tide.

Bait was slow, we worked hard for 3 dozen pins. The tide switched at 8:30 p.m. and Instantly, Neil hooked up! The fish was a fat Snook and it was giving Neil a good fight. Nice catch Neil. The skunk was off the boat! We took a photo and released it. It was getting rough as the tide started out.

We moved inside a little and Richard hooked up with the next fish which was a short Snook. We missed a few as well. I suggested that we try some plugs and Neil hooked and landed a nice Red. Well Neil had the hot hand because he caught the next fish as well. A trophy snook, good job Neil. Jesse caught the next Snook which was a fatty as well. Nice fish guys and thanks for good times.

Tiff and Me

We ran the beaches today, Looking for whatever. There is a lot of Spanish Mackeral and Bonita on the surface exploding on glass minnows. I was using a silver spoon and managed to catch a few of the Spanish. It was fun on light tackle. I did see one Tarpon around 60 lb. roll near my bait.

What a nice day though, light west wind and a perfect ocean. Just another Sunday.

Dave D. & Dave K.
Dave D. & Dave K. Dave D. is from Orlando and Dave lives Northern California. Dave D. got a hold of me because of one of my nice clients sent a picture of them and a fat Snook and my info into the O-town paper. Thanks ! Dave D. don’t forget to mail that.

Dave D. and Dave showed up at 6 p.m. and we headed out. We went to a little spot south of Hiram’s to catch bait. No problem, pinfish were thick. When we got to the Inlet the tide was outgoing and the wind was blowing pretty hard NE. It was a little tough to figure out.

Dave D. hooked up first with a Jack. There was a lot of Grass moving through. The tide slowed as it got darker and the fish started biting just like clock work. Dave caught the first Red and it was a nice one about 32″. The next drift he landed a 28″ snook, too bad its not season. Dave D. got into the mix next with a 33″ Red. With the next drift they both hooked up. Dave D. had a nice Red and Dave a nice slot size Snook. Check out the Picture!

The bite was on. Dave D. managed to catch a slot size Snook and another big Red. Dave caught another big Red as well. Dave D. had caught enough and was ready to head back. I like when I can wear you out!! Good job guys you whipped them down. Thanks Dave D. for the T-shirts and cigar.

Garrett Night time Red Aaron, Greg, & Garrett

Aaron, Greg, and Garrett are baseball players in the D-Rays minor league system. On a break for a few days they were amping to catch some fish. When Aaron called I told him about the action at night and they were game. We left the dock at 6 p.m. and caught our bait mostly pins.

With the sun starting to set we made our way to the Inlet. The tide was coming in and the outside was nice and calm. When we first arrived we were catching Jack after Jack. As it got darker the Redfish started biting. Aaron and Greg hooked up with nice fish. Greg was on fire, he landed a couple of nice Reds and a decent Snook. We switched it up for a bit with some lures, but it wasn’t too hot. We did lose one nice big Snook.

The fishing was steady all night, we caught a lot and missed a few. Thanks guys! it was fun and good luck this season.

Tiffany and Me

Tiffs dolphn The weather was nice, the wind was a 10 mph. out of the south. The Ocean had a little chop, it wasn’t bad enough to cancel. Its Sunday and I am going fishing, Thats a new one for me. Tiffany was coming and I was wanting to put her on some fish.

We went to Bethel to get bait, The bait was there but it was tricky. We got our few dozen and headed out. The winds were letting off and the sun was shining. I was wanting to slow troll some live one’s. We Had three lines out and were moving along when Tiffany says, Hey Eric whats that behind the engine? Well, that would be a Cobia. I Quickly grabbed the rod with a bucktail and tossed it back. It was 33″, just big enough for the grill. Good eyes Tiffany!

We kept fishing and fishing. It was slow. We caught a small king, a big Barracuda, and Tiffany got a Dolphin big enough for the box. She pitched a live bait and the fish slammed it. Good job Tiff. Well we decided to call it and head in. Thanks Tiff for coming fishing and putting up with me.

Pete & Sean (trip #2)

The weather was clear and the wind was light from the south west. We headed out of Hiram’s around 7 a.m. to fish offshore. We first went to Bethel buoy to get our bait. Well bait was difficult to catch, but we managed to get a few and plus we still had a few dozen pinfish left from last night. The Dolphin fishing has been a little slow so we decided to stick with the bottom.

Well fishing was slow, The winds shifted more from the south and the current picked up a little. With a live Sarine on a flat line, Pete hooked up and landed a 10 lb. king. We kept fishing and managed to get a few more fish a short grouper, some decent SeaBass, another king, and we lost a few as well.

Fishing was a little slow but overall it still was a good positive attitude adjustment. Pete and Sean were a lot of fun to go fishing with. Thanks guys !

Pete & son Sean

Pete & Sean are from Orlando and were in for two days. Pete called me around 1 p.m. wanting to do some fishing in the Evening. I was available so I told him I would be down to Capt. Hirams around 4 p.m so we could fish up the evening tide at the Inlet.

The weather was not in our favor. It was raining, but Pete and Sean were still wanting to fish. We waited for the rain to stop and made a break for the bait spot. There were Storms everywhere. We had to go back to the dock after catching a few dozen pinfish to avoid the next storm. I was wondering if we should just call it off?

After the storm passed, I checked the radar and figured that we had one hour till the next storm. These guys were game and we charged over there in a hurry. The tide was going out and it was calm. I set up a drift for them and it didn’t take long before they both hooked up. Pete had a Jack and Sean a turtle, yea a turtle. Well we set up another drift and they both hooked up again. This time Pete had a Jack and Sean a 27″ Red. We released the Red and kept fishing. We made two more drifts and Sean caught two more Reds that were around 32″ and 33″. Pete caught one more Jack. Well with the rain coming down hard on us we decided to call it. Not bad guys, 4 drifts and 6 fish! I hope the pictures come out?
