Tim W. and Robert W.

Robert W. 1st Snook Tim and Robert are from Lakeland, Fl. Robert is 12 and Tims son. They have been fishing with me before and let me say that Robert has got the fishing bug. Last trip we caught some nice Reds. With the wind still blowing out of control we were gonna need a lot of luck. In the Morning Robert brought along a friend named Stephen. With plenty of bait left over from the night before we headed towards the Inlet. We arrived and the tide was slack. Stephen caught a big Jack. The Inlet was rough and fishing was slow. I suggested that we wait till the evening. Tim and Robert agreed.
We met back at the dock around 7 p.m. and went to catch more bait. The tide was incoming and the east side of the bridge was workable. It didn’t take long and Roberts reel was singing. Big Red! Well the bite was on. Robert was on fire he managed to whip down 5 big Reds, smallest 33 inches. Tim also caught 1 nice Red. Well with the tide slowing we moved in and started fishing for the Snook. I put a Plug on and gave the rod to Robert. With in a few moments Robert Hooked up with a monster! Robert did a great job at holding on and getting that 34 inch Snook to the boat. After some great pictures and a few more short Snook and a small grouper we decided to call it a night. Thanks Tim and Robert it is a pleasure to take the two of you fishing. I hope you enjoy the fish!

John G. & Steve

The winds are still blowing strong. Snook season is coming to an end. John is from Pennsylvania and Steve is from Michigan. John and Steve arrived at 6 and we proceeded to catch our bait. We caught bait pretty quickly and were off to the Inlet. The tide was coming in. We fished the east side of the bridge and were in the Reds. Steve hooked up with a big Jack and after a good fight, Steve landed it. John missed a couple of hits and then put a hook in a solid 20lb. Redfish. Luck would have it that the flash on the camera was not working so we were not able to capture the moment on film. The window of opportunity was small for catching our fish. John managed to catch a couple more fish. A keeper snook(29 inch) and a couple of shorts. It seems like there is a lot of small fish in the Inlet. Thanks John and Steve for coming fishing with me and I hope we can fish together another time. I promise next time we will get some pictures!

Matson, Dan, Tiffany & Me

Well the wind is still blowing 20 to 25. The wind is never gonna stop, I am gonna take up kite boarding! The Snook bite is on and Were gonna fish regardless. We had no problems with catching bait. We made way to the inlet a little before dark. The first drift and I hooked right up! nice Snook! 31 inches and in the box. Well That is usually a bad sign when you catch a nice fish on the first drift. It had me worried because we didn’t catch another fish for awhile after. As the tide began to slow we started catching some fish. A lot of the fish were small. Matson caught the next 2 keepers(27 and 29 inches). We had tons of action, just a lot of small fish! The greenies are thick inside the Inlet and the Snook are hungry!

RobertRon & Robert

Ron and Robert are from Mims, Fl. Ron fished with me one night last season and we had a very productive night (7 keepers). The winds are blowing 20 to 25 out of the SE. and fishing is difficult. Ron and Robert were still amping on catching some Snook and so was I. We eased our way out to catch our pins and pigs at one of my favorite bait spots. Bait wasn’t too thick but we managed to get 4 dozen.

At dark we made our way to the Inlet and started fishing. The tide was still moving fast and we had to wait for a bit. Once the tide began to slow Ron hooked up, the fish was a little short. The next fish Ron caught and it was a little short. Ron had the hot hand, he hooked up again and finally a 27 inch keeper. Robert was taking lessons from Ron. When the next fish was a nice 20lb. Redfish caught by Ron. (nice fish Ron!) Well Ron decided to take a break and let Robert and me catch some fish. The lessons paid off, Robert caught the Mac Daddy of the night with a 34 inches and it was a FATTY!!!

Robert caught a few more shorts and lost a couple of nice ones. I hooked up with a fat one too but lost it at the boat. I would say it was close to the big one that Robert caught. I did manage to put one in the boat that was 29 inches. Well we fished a little longer and Robert caught a few more shorts and then it was time to go. It was a rough, wet ride back! Good thing we went fishing it was a good night. Nice Snook Robert!!!

John A., Matson, Kevin, and Me

The winds are 15-20 out of the s. east. Is this wind ever gonna quit? Well bait fishing was tough, only a few in every spot that I stopped. We went to every spot that I usually have no problems with getting bait. By the time it was dark we had about 3 dozen pins and pigs. We started to fish and noticed the the large amount of greenies moving through. Matt grabbed the cast net and with one throw we had more than enough bait for two trips. I hooked up the first snook of the night it was 31 inches. We continued to catch a mess of short Snook. John put the next keeper on the boat with a plug, 34 inches. That was a nice fish. We caught one or two more shorts before the tide started ripping to fast. Well it was fun and who knows what will happen tonight?

Dad and I Dad, Eric O. and Me

Dad and I went bait fishing earlier in the day so that we could enjoy a delicious Snook Dinner that Tiffany(my girlfriend) had prepared for us when we returned. With a full belly we headed towards Capt. Hiram’s to get in the boat.

We met with one of my good friends Chipper(Eric O.) Around 10p.m. we made our first drift and Chipper hooked right up! Snook on! a nice 30 inch keeper. Well lets just say that Chipper was on, that guy could not miss he put another Snook in the boat a few drifts later. A few more drifts and a couple of short Snook later Dad and I had a double hook up. Dad’s fish was a 29 inches and mine was a little short. We took a picture and enjoyed the moment. That was 3 fish in the boat, 3 more to go.

The tide was starting to turn. Chipper hooked up with a big one, he had it on and it was running him, well it finally took him into the fenders and broke. Sorry Chipper for not responding quick enough. It wasn’t long after that and we had #4. We started to fish artificial and my Dad hooked right up and we landed #5. I was starting to wonder if I was going to get to a keeper. The night before I couldn’t miss and tonight I cant do anything right. Well luckily chipper took the wheel. Dad and I double hooked up and this time it was my turn, his fish was a short and mine was a nice keeper. Yea, that was #6. That was awesome to limit two nights in a row with pops. Great making memories with you Dad, I love you and thanks for everything.

Dad, Matson, & Me.

5-15-07Well my Dad(Jack) is in town, He arrived last Thursday. We usually get together once a year in May to do some fishing. Well since his arrival we have had some pretty foul weather, Fishing has been slow. The tides are ripping in the Inlet. We started off around 6p.m. We went to catch bait(pins & pigs). At dark the tide was coming in really fast and fishing was impossible. I suggested that we anchor and just wait for the end of the tide for the current to slow.

When the tide began to lighten up we started to make some drifts. It didn’t take long and it was on. I hooked right up! Snook On! Matt grabbed the net and it was the first keeper of the night. Next drift I hooked right up and it was a short. Matt caught the next fish another short. I caught the next Snook and it was our 2nd keeper.

My dad was just starting to figure it out and quickly joined in on the action. Matt put the next 2 keepers in the boat with the biggest of the night. I was starting to worry that my dad wasn’t gonna get to put a keeper in the box before Matt and I could catch our limit. We were catching fish every drift, The fish were small and we had to pick through them to get our keepers. We ran out of bait and switched fishing methods. My dad hooked right up with a nice Snook. That was #5, one more to go. We caught a couple more shorts. Then my dad ended up with #6 of the night. Good job dad!!! What a fun night tons of action. Check out the picture !

Greg, Dave, and Greg Jr. We headed to get bait, with the moon still full the bait was impossible to catch. we managed to get a dozen and decided to go use them. We were bottom fishing in 90ft. when a school of small dolphin came up to the boat. I quickly got a live bait out on a free-line. They wouldn’t hit so I cut a couple of baits into chunks and started to chum. It didn’t take long and they were feeding. Greg ended up with the biggest fish which was close to 10lbs. We caught 6 and decided that was enough for a few dinners. Dave caught a small kingfish. We ran out of bait and decided to call it a half day. Thanks guys, I look forward to fishing with you again.

Joe and friends from Pennsylvania. The weather was nice just a little overcast. We headed offshore. The bait was a little tough to catch. After some work we went to do some bottom fishing. The moon was full and the fishing was slow. Frank caught a 20lb. grouper. We also caught some Sea-bass and a few small Kings. Thanks guys for the trip.

Kevins Hoo The weather was perfect, clear and calm and my friend Kevin was in town after 10 years. Well Me, Kevin, and John Headed out. We stopped at the buoy and caught our sardines. Bait was thick and plentiful. We were gonna try a little bottom. I quickly caught a few Sea-bass and a grouper that was just short. I did catch a nice Mangrove Snapper. We managed to catch a few small kings on the surface. Kevin hooked up with a big fish and just couldn’t get the fish up, After few minutes it broke. I also hooked up with a big shark and it whipped my butt.

Well it was time to go drag some baits. We came across a nice weed-line in 150 ft. We lost a nice big Dolphin, I saw it when it hit. That fish hit that bait hard and my line broke. My drag was way too tight, my fault. I know better, always check the drag!! That was a big one too!! Well Kevin hooked up with a Wahoo and we put it in the boat, he was stoked. That was Kevin’s first hoo. We headed back to do some more bottom fishing but had no luck. The day was full of action we caught a lot of fish just only a few worth keeping. Thanks Kevin and John.
